Accomodation
Mercure Hotel Caen
Across the street from the Port de Plaisance, this casual hotel is a 7-minute walk from the Abbey of Sainte-Trinité, an 11-minute walk from the Musée de Normandie and 8 km from the Mémorial de Caen.
The warm rooms feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, desks, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Suites add pull-out sofas.
Amenities include a 24/7 exercise room, as well as a bar with views of the port. There’s also a business center, plus 17 meeting rooms. Parking is available. Pets are welcome for a fee.

16.00hrs Depart Dublin Port for overnight sailing to Cherbourg on W.B. Yeats.
DAY 2 -Wednesday 02nd October
11.30hrs Arrive Cherbourg and drive towards Caen for 2 night stay at Mercure Hotel with visits en route to Sainte Mere Eglise, Utah Beach and La Cambe (Gernan Cemetry)
12.40hrs Sainte Mere Eglise – First town to be liberated on June 6. Place where Private John Steele feigned death hanging from the steeple of church in the Square

14.45hrs Arrive Utah Beach – Utah Beach monuments and memorials. The Museum in honour of the men who came ashore here is built on the site of the remains of the former German Bunkers

17.10hrs Arrive La Cambe – The largest German War Cemetery in Normandy where the remains of over 21,000 German soldiers are buried.
